Archipelago Guide

Crops and rarity

Every field crop in the game, how watering and Green Manure speed them up, and how rare fruit works.

Field crops

Till a tile, plant a seed, and pick the fruit when it ripens. Each crop unlocks at a player level. Slower crops pay far more per harvest, so the best crop depends on how often you come back: the Crop planner works it out for you.

A crop planted on the island that favours it grows 20% faster. Fruit trees and berry bushes grow in pots instead: see Pots and trees.

Watering

Watering opens at L2. Watered soil grows its crop 2 times as fast for 3 minutes, then dries out. Each watering costs Water Points.

Getting Water Points

  • Rain clouds. About one cloud in ten drifting over your islands is a rain cloud. Tap it for 1 Water Point, or 5 from a big one.
  • The Rain Barrel, a gift at L6, fills with 1 Water Point an hour while you're away. Tap it to collect.
  • Level-ups and mastery milestones often include Water Points.

Sugarcane grows only on wet soil, and planting it costs 10 Water Points. Keep it watered and it ripens in 1d of wet time.

Green Manure

Watercress (L30) is nearly worthless to sell. Its job is the Mill: 10 watercress and 2 Water Points make 2 Green Manure in 2m.

Spread manure on tilled soil and the next harvest on that tile comes up double, after every other bonus. Rarer manure doesn't double harder; it lasts more harvests:

Rare fruit

Every fruit you pick rolls its own rarity. Rarer fruit sells for more and gives more XP. A crop can only drop a rarity once its mastery is high enough.

Uncommon ×2 ×1.5 25
Rare ×5 ×2 75
Mythic ×15 ×3 200
Dreamlike ×50 ×5 500

What raises the odds

  • Mastery. Uncommon and Rare start small when they open and climb over the next 75 mastery levels.
  • Fortune Blessings, one ladder per crop and rarity, bought in the Blessings shop.
  • Master Farmer, a farm-wide bonus as your crops pass mastery milestones.
  • Cherry blossoms (L300) count as 5 free Fortune levels on every crop in reach, and let a rarity drop before its mastery opens it.
  • Keystone Blessings such as Prospector add a flat bump to every rarity.

Beyond Dreamlike

Dreamlike isn't the top. Dreamlike+1 and up (to +20) come only from some Crop Idols, which let fruit roll one extra rung each, and from the Reserve, which ages fruit up a rung at a time. Each rung sells for more again: Dreamlike+1 is ×150.
